Smoothie bowls are trending big time on Instagram at the moment and its not hard to see why. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but they’re packed with nutritional goodness and are a great way to start your day. Forget about boring cereal. Smoothie bowls are the way to go.
I love them because you can customize them anyway that you want. You can have a rainbow fruit extravaganza or a simple basic bowl topped with some chia seeds and a banana. Anything goes! Below are some of my favorite recipes :
2 cups blueberries
1 cup almond milk, unsweetened
1 1/2 cup oats, soaked overnight
1 vanilla bean scraped or 1 tsp vanilla extract
1 banana (optional)
maple syrup or raw honey, to taste
Toppings of your choice: goji berries, flaked almonds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, toasted coconut, etc.
Put all the ingredients into a blender. Blend, pour, sprinkle, and enjoy.
1 cup chopped kale or baby spinach
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of your choice)
1½ cups frozen mixed berries
½ frozen banana (Yes, you can use a regular banana, but then you may have to add some ice to your smoothie bowl.)
1-2 teaspoons light agave (depending on how sweet you like things)
½ banana, sliced
¼ cup blueberries
2-3 strawberries, sliced
1 teaspoon chia seeds
2 tablespoons chopped almonds
2 tablespoons unsweetened coconut shavings, raw or toasted
¼ cup granola of your choice
Place ingredients in a blender. Blend until the mixture is relatively smooth. Pour in a bowl. Add toppings and enjoy.
2 packages frozen pitaya puree (dragon fruit puree)
1/2 cup frozen berries
1/2 cup almond milk, preferably homemade
2 tablespoons vegetable protein powder, such as hemp, pea or your favorite nut butter
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Divide between bowls and garnish with bee pollen, goji berries and hemp hearts.
